What's Inside Your Child's Boost Box? 

Student Materials

Your child will receive an organized set of materials designed for easy weekly use, including a storage system and a pouch of tools to support learning. Tools include a pencil, sharpener, pointer stick, reading ring, highlighter, dry erase marker, dice, magnifying glass, and counters. Kindergarten boxes also include magnetic letters and a beginner pencil grip.

Parent Resources

You’ll also get support materials to help you feel confident using the box, including:

• simple directions for each activity

Weekly Checklists

Eight skills from your child's previous school year have been chosen as the most critical to retain. Your child will spend 1 week reviewing and working on each skill. To help with organization (and motivation!), a checklist with a reward coupon for each week is also included. Have your child brainstorm the reward they'd like to work towards (before starting each week) and you'll be amazed at how motivated they are to check off tasks on their list! 

Word Lists

Each week of activities starts with a word list for your child to read. A QR code at the bottom of the page links to a quick 1-minute video with directions for your child. There are words, phrases, and sentences with the targeted skill. The word lists aren't too long and are manageable for your child! If your child has a Rising into Kindergarten Boost Box, there are no word lists since your child will be working on letters and sounds.

Decodable Readers

Each weekly skill also includes a decodable reader designed to help children practice patterns they’ve already learned. Both fiction and nonfiction texts are included, along with a QR-code your child can scan for a book introduction that gets them excited to read! Kindergarten boxes receive alphabet booklets instead.

Comprehension

Each decodable reader includes a short comprehension page with simple text-based questions so your child can practice understanding what they read. Kindergarten boxes do not include this component.

Games

Get ready for some fun! Every box includes 8 engaging games — one for each week — with materials already provided. Game formats include card games, board games, and other hands-on activities. Kindergarten games focus on letters and sounds.

All of the materials needed for each game are included in the zippered pouch in your child's boost box, so there is no need to hunt down extra materials!

Spelling Practice

Each week also includes a short skill-aligned spelling activity. Your child will practice spelling 6 words using the “Tap, Map, Read, and Write” method. A QR code on each page links to a quick video with directions. Colorful pictures keep your child engaged, while sound boxes help your child segment the sounds in the word before spelling. Kindergarten boxes include a personalized name-writing page instead.
