Heart Word Booklets

Help your child practice heart words with this set of 200 heart word booklets. These easy-to-print practice booklets include reading, writing, and fluency practice for 200 of the most common sight words.

What’s Included on Each Page:

• Page 1: Your child will code the heart word (ex. draw a heart around the heart part, draw a heart under the heart part, etc.) Then, they will read the word 3 times, placing a check in the boxes after each time.

•  Page 2: Using the Elkonin boxes, your child will color in a circle for each sound in the word. Then, they will write the letter(s) that represent each sound in the box below. Finally, they will color in the hearts for each heart part of the word. Next, your child will trace the letters in the heart word, saying each letter aloud as they trace. Finally, they will write the heart word two times on the lines at the bottom of the page.

•  Page 3: Your child will draw a scoop under each phrase and practice reading it with fluency. In the “Highlight & Read” box, they will highlight the heart word and then practice reading the entire sentence fluently.

•  Page 4: On the final page, your child will write a sentence of their own using the heart word. Then, they will edit their sentence with the C.O.P.S. checklist.
