Important Note:
We haven’t placed hearts on any of the words in the “Words with Heart” program. This is to give you the flexibility to mark/code the heart words according to whether the “heart part” is truly irregular, or is decodable based on the phonics scope and sequence you follow. This is explained in depth in the teacher guide. We’ve also included an explanation of each of the 200 Heart Words, including whether the word is a true or temporary heart word, and the phonics patterns it contains. The benefit of not placing hearts on the materials is that you can use the “Words with Heart” program with ANY reading or phonics curriculum!
